Motion Graphics in DaVinci Fusion

When most people think of DaVinci Resolve’s Fusion page, they immediately associate it with VFX, keying, compositing, camera tracking, and all that good stuff. But Fusion isn’t just a VFX tool. It’s also a powerful environment for motion graphics.
While After Effects is the go-to for most motion designers, Fusion offers a different approach by using a node-based workflow instead of layers. This changes the way you think about building animations. With nodes, your comp becomes more visual and organized. You can isolate elements, reroute connections, and see the flow of your project at a glance. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once it clicks, it’s hard to go back, especcially for VFX work.
In my latest YouTube video, I recreated a frost text effect inside Fusion, inspired by a great tutorial from Motion Nation (who did it in After Effects). It’s a fun example of how motion design techniques translate into a node-based world, and how you don’t need an Adobe subscription to create stylish, layered graphics.
If you're already comfortable in Fusion for VFX, try dipping your toes into motion graphics. You might be surprised how "cool" it is.
